Cancer patients want their GP's involvement

Cancer patients need more involvement from their GP after being diagnosed in hospital, including joint decision-making about treatment. However, planning such a joint process is a major challenge. These are the results of 2 UMC Utrecht studies, one by Ietje Perfors and one by Eveline Nooteboom. Continued development of interventions to support primary care involvement in cancer care remains necessary. The need for primary care is obvious, but the design, evaluation and implementation of new interventions remains challenging. Together with other primary and secondary care providers in the region, UMC Utrecht has made collaboration arrangements to provide structured oncological care to improve the counseling of patients with cancer.
