Karin Gerritsen is internist-nephrologist and clinical scientist with a main interest in home dialysis. Her research focuses on innovative dialysis technologies. As PI on several international (EC-funded) and national (GF-, DKF-, NWO- and HH-funded) grants, she has a coordinating role in the development and/ or in vivo validation of several artificial kidney devices for both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis, in close involvement with the Dutch Kidney Foundation. Preparations for clinical trials are underway. Together with a.o. UU, UT, TU/E, UM, WUR and IMEC, she is working on innovative dialysis membranes, the bioartificial/ implantable kidney, systems-on-chip for dialysis and green dialysis.
