New Course: Bias in Science
This course will cover the topic of gender and health. It will address differences between men and women in diseases such as cardiovascular disease. The neurological basis of bias will be discussed and how the pathways in the brain can also be self-regulated. Topics such as pharmacotherapies around ethnicity and health will also be considered. The aim of the course is to make the future researcher aware of the prejudices that we all have and how to consciously deal with them when we design and conduct our research.
The designers of the course also want to make students aware of the diversity within the society in which we live so that the quality of research can be improved. Specialists from different fields will participate in the course and the course will be open to (exchange) students from different study programmes.
