Dr. Ruigrok behaalde haar artsdiploma in 1999 aan de Universiteit Utrecht. In 2006 promoveerde zij cum laude op haar proefschrift: "From intracranial aneurysm to aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage: unraveling the genetics". Vervolgens behaalde zij in 2010 haar registratie als specialist bij het UMC Utrecht.
