dr. A.G.M. (A.G.M.) Schilder

Full Professor
  • Department of Epidemiology

Professor Schilder is a Paediatric ENT consultant at the University Medical Centre Utrecht (UMCU) and Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital, London. She leads the multidisciplinary evidENT team at University College London (UCL) dedicated to developing the evidence base for ENT, Hearing and Balance which is supported by an NIHR Research Professorship award. Her work spans the translational research pathway for adult and paediatric ENT and includes developing a UK research agenda for ENT, Hearing and Balance.

In close collaboration with her expert colleagues at UMCU in particular the Departments of Epidemiology, Primary Care and Paediatrics, she led a series of multicentre RCTs of medical and surgical treatments of upper respiratory tract infections and otitis media in children. These trials have been influential in the way global health-care systems think about the management of children with these conditions and have been translated in national and international evidence-based guidelines and health policies. She is the Joint coordinating Editor of the Cochrane Collaboration ENT Disorders Group, on the editorial board of Clinical Otolaryngology and the International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology.
